Your First Visit

Unless you are experiencing a dental emergency or having any discomfort, we recommend a comprehensive exam. During your first visit, we will review your medical history, take any necessary x-rays, and perform a comprehensive exam. This gives you an opportunity to meet us and gives our team a chance to get to know you and your dental needs. Together, we will assess your dental health goals and schedule the necessary appointments.

To help us ensure your visit is conducted in a timely manner, please bring the following items to our office:

Insurance Card
New Patient Forms (may also be filled out at our office)
Any current x-rays available to you
Current list of all medications & any herbal supplements you are taking

Please alert our office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment (i.e. artificial heart valves or joints, anticoagulant therapy)

Important: All patients under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the initial visit.

Your Child’s First Visit

At Smoky Mountain Dentistry, we strive to make your child’s first dental visit fun and easy, while getting them accustomed to our office. Dental visits are a source of fear for so many children and adults. Creating a positive first dentist experience for your child will do them a service that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Because every child is different, we tailor your child’s first appointment to their unique needs. This appointment gives the dentist an opportunity to evaluate your child’s dental health and if necessary, make a referral to a pediatric dentist.

Prior to bringing your child to the dentist, we encourage you to:

Speak positively about going to the dentist.
Read books about going to the dentist.
Any current x-rays available to you
Avoid using words that create a negative image like, “hurt”, “shot” or “drill”
